Use the diagram below to compare the incisions of various surgery techniques:

Bandaid Incisions

This young doctor had his right colon removed for cancer. Using the techniques of bandaid surgery, he had a remarkable recovery with only 72 hours in the hospital and returned to work 10 days after surgery.

We removed the right colon in this morbidly obese patient with a large colon polyp. By performing her surgery completely laparoscopically, she recovered quickly with only a hospital stay of 4 days. The incisions are barely visible.

Bandaid surgery is also possible for patients with rectal cancer like this one. This is a complex operation that we routinely perform completely laparoscopically. We have found quicker recovery times and a dramatic reduction in blood loss.
